Volunteer Steve Hirst volunteer with the first rat trapped. The society undertook predator control on the 114-hectare Mystery Creek property, with support from the Department of Conservation and the Waikato Regional Council. In the past 12 months, the society had put a stronger focus on conservation, working with Predator-Free Hamilton and Cambridge. It secured funding from regional councils to run the hub over the next two years. “As a community hub, we will provide predator traps for our neighbours and will offer ongoing support and training days,” Fieldays Chief Executive Peter Nation said. SUPPLIED Neighbour Susan Henderson and volunteer John Moody use the Trap.NZ app to record the number of predators eliminated from the Mystery Creek property.
