The Navantia-Windar alliance will manufacture and supply XXL monopile foundations for a number of Iberdrola’s offshore wind power projects, according to the Spanish trio’s agreement. Iberdrola said it would place orders for 130 pieces of XXL foundations, worth up to $471.6m between 2023 and 2025. The future flow of orders will enable the joint venture to set up an XXL monopile factory at Navantia’s shipyard in Fene, a municipality in northwest Spain.
