NORTH DAKOTA — Being a sexual assault nurse examiner, or SANE nurse, isn't in any job description.
"We don't make anybody choose this role or choose this position because it's passion," said Lisa Jackson, foundation director for Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
SANE nurses are paid for their time, but it's time on top of their regular duties.
"It's not an easy thing to do," said Jackson.
At Jamestown Regional Medical Center, the program isn't in its regular budget. Training and paying for their eight SANE nurses comes from fundraisers and grants from the state.
