And my dad passed away here in this house. How Charlene a layers family has called home for generations. She's scared she won't be able to pass it along. There's a possibility that we could lose our houses or we could be having to lease our property. That's because her property is in an area where next hour energy could put its solar farm Here is a much smaller version of what the 3500 acre farm would look like. But to make it a reality, the company needs more land than just the original land. The nuclear power plant is on a layer. Is confused on what that means for her home. I have no idea. So I'm in the dark so and if I'm in the dark there's a lot of neighbors out here that are in the dark as well. The company has distributed information about the project through for the flyers in the mail in a virtual meeting. But next hour energy is also asking the Iowa utility board for a waiver to skip an in person meeting required by law, citing Covid 19 concerns. That is only growing concerns from people like a layer and around 400 others on a Facebook group against the project. Why not just do a virtual meeting with this group then? A virtual meeting doesn't meet the regulatory requirement. But that said, um, we have had a virtual meeting. That meeting took place about a month ago when they first announced the project and the company plans to open an office in Palo where people can ask questions next week. However, the company plans to release more specific details in the summer. Those sounds of summer are getting much louder at a laura's family home house she wants to protect for the future.
