With the commissioning of two new vessels, the port's capacity will increase by 15 – 16%. “The commissioning of two new self-propelled barges will allow us to reach a new level of coal shipment in order to achieve plans for export to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. The cargo ships will strengthen the port's coastal fleet and increase its throughput to 14 million tpy,” commented Anatoly Balakin, Executive Director of the Shakhtersk Coal Seaport. Two self-propelled barges, Star Excellence and Star Success, were purchased in 2020 at the port of Moulayin (Myanmar). The length of each barge is 97.5 m, 24.4 m wide, and a depth of 6.1 m. The power of the two main engines is 1790 kW each. Deadweight (the sum of the mass of the payload) is 7423 t.
