Niac meeting today to consider use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine One-shot jab will have ‘huge effect’ on the vaccine rollout if approved, says Minister about 3 hours ago Updated: 43 minutes ago
The National Immunisation Committee is meeting on Thursday to consider its position on the use of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine. Earlier this week the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risk of the very rare side effect of a blood-clotting event. The Government expects to begin using the one-shot jab as early as next week as a boost to the vaccine programme. Minister for the Environment Eamon Ryan said he is hopeful a recommendation will give the green light for use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in people in their 50s.
