Office for Victims of Immigrant Crimes, Opened by Trump, Closed by Biden Administration On 6/11/21 at 1:53 PM EDT A U.S. office for helping victims of immigrant crimes opened by former President Donald Trump has been closed by President Joe Biden's administration, the administration announced Friday. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said that Trump's Victim Of Immigration Crime Engagement Office (VOICE) is being replaced by The Victims Engagement and Services Line and called it "a more comprehensive and inclusive victim support system." The new agency will combine services already established such as methods for reporting abuse in immigration detention centers. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said that "providing assistance to society's most vulnerable is a core American value. All people, regardless of their immigration status, should be able to access victim services without fear."
