OKLAHOMA SNOWSTORM: Turner Turnpike closed in both directions in east Oklahoma City due to multi-vehicle crash

Parts of the Turner Turnpike near Oklahoma City were shut down for almost 12 hours following a fiery crash involving several semitrucks and other vehicles Sunday. According to Oklahoma City Fire Department officials, four semitrucks and four privately owned vehicles were involved in a collision around 2:45 p.m. Four people were taken to hospitals by various means, but Oklahoma City Fire Department personnel did not treat or encounter the patients.Fire officials also said there are no known fatalities as a result of the incident. Two Oklahoma City Fire Department fire engines and one brush pumper became nonoperational while on the scene because of mechanical parts freezing.Multiple agencies have worked the collision, including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Jones, Luther and Edmond fire departments.Authorities said around 9:45 p.m. Sunday that the eastbound lanes of the turnpike reopened and announced around 2:45 a.m. Monday that the westbound lanes were open again.
