On Moore's departure: SBC not 'woke' enough for her Friday, March 12, 2021 | Steve Jordahl (OneNewsNow.com) Spanish Popular Christian author and speaker Beth Moore is leaving the Southern Baptist Convention – evidence, some are saying, that she's become more "woke" than wise. Moore made the announcement in a recent interview with Religion News Service: Moore: "I am still a Baptist, but I can no longer identify with Southern Baptists. I love so many Southern Baptist people, so many Southern Baptist churches, but I don't identify with some of the things in our heritage that haven't remained in the past." Speculation is that she's was referring to the denomination's "racist roots" and arguing that support of former President Donald Trump among Southern Baptists is evidence that it persists still. RNS offered the following: "Because of her opposition to Trump and her outspokenness in confronting sexism and nationalism in the evangelical world, Moore has been labeled as 'liberal' and 'woke.'"
