Photos: Filepic With a broadcasting history that spans over seven decades, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has rightfully become the household word when it comes to informing, educating and entertaining the public, as well as shaping the thinking of Malaysians. And, before the advent of digital and pay-TV operators, it was terrestrial free-to-air stations in the likes of RTM that enabled Malaysians to watch major local and international sporting events from the comfort of their living rooms. Having won the trust of international media organisations, RTM often secured the right to be official broadcaster for prestigious events such as the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association meeting in 1996, the 1998 Commonwealth Games, 2002 Hockey World Cup, 2007 World Badminton Championship, 2017 SEA Games and the latest, 2021 All England Badminton Championships.
