ONTD Original: NAIDOC Week Hey ONTD! It's NAIDOC week over here so lets celebrate with some excellent Indigenous Australian and Torres Straight music! Firstly, what's NAIDOC week you ask? Well NAIDOC week in its current form was established back in the early 1970s but can be tied back to the protest movement known as the Day of Mourning in 1938. While the Day of Mourning was a protest on the way white Australia had treated and seized the land of the original custodians, NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee) is a celebration of history, culture and achievements of Indigenous Australians and Torres Straight Islanders, the longest living continuous culture in the world.
