Orange County High School Stays Open During Pandemic, Breaks Athletic Records An Orange County, Calif. private school that stayed open for in-person instruction throughout the COVID-19 pandemic set athletic records, reported a high academic performance, and dramatically increased its enrollment, its staff says. Calvary Chapel High School (CCHS) in Santa Ana set a school record during the 2020-21 school year, winning seven league championships, said its athletic director and boys basketball coach Jon Hughes. He attributed the students’ success to the “mental health” advantage of being surrounded by fellow teens and teachers and peers daily. “Being on campus was the key for a lot of the success for us,” Hughes told The Epoch Times. “Seeing their teammates, and kids in the hallways—for the mental aspect of it—is huge.”
