A Texas man who formerly ran a grain trailer business in Reno County has been banned from doing business in Kansas and fined for violating the Kansas Consumer Protection Act, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said Friday. Cody Ruddick, now of LaVernia, Texas, did business as 4R Custom Grain Wagons in Hutchinson, according to a release from the AG’s office. The state filed a petition against Ruddick on March 23 for selling a grain trailer to an individual in Morris County for $2,500 on Nov. 6, 2019, and taking payment, but never delivering the trailer or paying a refund. Shawnee County District Court Judge Mary Christopher approved a default judgment against Ruddick on Thursday after he failed to respond to the AG’s lawsuit.
