The serum, they feared, contains cow blood, meat or fat. In Nuh, where inoculation drives have met with resistance in the past too, the health department has been informed of concerns that the vaccine “contains pig parts” and could cause infertility. The Phase 3 turnout in the two predominantly rural districts has been dismal so far. While Nuh’s turnout is the second lowest in the state, with just 470 people vaccinated, Palwal is at 17th spot among 22 districts, with 1,252 inoculations. According to the 2011 Census, Nuh’s population is 12 lakh while that of Palwal is 10.5 lakh. Either district has a target of over 1 lakh for the ongoing phase.
