Grace/New Era staff writer The ferris wheel towers over the midway at the Western Kentucky State Fair. Western Kentucky State Fair Board President Kent Boyd said attendance at this year’s fair reached 40,974, topping attendance numbers that he said were in the lower 30,000s two years ago, in 2019. Last year’s event was canceled due to COVID-19, one of the hardest decisions that Boyd said he’s ever been a part of making.
