At 9 o’clock Saturday night, in response to an alarm of fire, the Independence Fire Company hurried to the Wagner home, a square away, and the firemen rushing into the house found a crowd of excited neighbors, while smoke was issuing down the stairway, and Mrs. Wagner, almost in a state of collapse, calling on someone to save her daughter, Wilhelmina, who had gone to bed.
