The program is growing, with chapters in Fort Lauderdale, Bal Harbour and Parkland, and the synagogue has received inquiries about starting ones in Philadelphia and Montreal. Though the pandemic forced the synagogue to hold classes via Zoom this year, it may help lead to more collaboration in the future as the synagogue looks for other opportunities to expand the program, Scheiner said. Seeing students soak in the curriculum, which was developed in conjunction with Palm Beach Atlantic University so participants can receive college credit, gives Sarah Dworcan, who heads the program, a sense of hope.
