Although Governor Andy Beshear said Kentucky senior citizen centers could re-open on Friday, June 11, area centers in the Pennyrile region will reopen July 1. Officials with the Pennyrile Area Development District (PADD) and the Pennyrile Allied Community Services (PACS) made the announcement Thursday. The centers affected are in Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Trigg counties. Officials said on July 1, all centers will return to their normal hours of operation and services before the pandemic, and all centers will continue to follow any Centers for Disease Control, state, and local guidelines. Jill Collins, PADD Director of Aging and Independent Living, tells the News Edge that they chose the July 1 date to give adequate time to re-open.
