CITY HEIGHTS — A suspected drunken driver caused a wrong-way, head-on crash late Monday on a City Heights freeway, seriously injuring an occupant of the other vehicle, authorities said. It happened around 11:30 p.m. on south state Route 15 near University Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Officer Sal Castro. A Ford Fusion was heading north in the wrong lanes when it struck a Toyota Corolla head on, then crashed into other vehicles, Castro said in a news release. Medics took an occupant of the Corolla to a hospital for treatment of unspecified major injuries, Castro said. That person’s name, age and other identifying details were not provided.
