MORE than 4,500 people, including nearly 2,800 children, have been helped by a food box scheme launched during the first lockdown. Boxes of Hope, run by volunteers at Gorse Hill Baptist Church, has delivered more than 1,300 boxes of food, toys and toiletries since June. And the team is planning to carry on handing out Boxes of Hope for as long as it can because it expects the town to be affected by job losses. Co-ordinator Heather Prictor said: “When we started we didn’t know how many it would be. It’s been really interesting but we didn’t really give a thought that we would still be going.
