As rising sea levels, eroding shorelines and more intense hurricane seasons batter Florida beaches, cities along the coast are recognizing the need to plan for the future — and the town of Ponce Inlet is no exception. Together, Ponce Inlet residents, town employees and members of the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council met Thursday night and discussed effective methods to prepare for a changing climate. “The time to start doing this is now. Ponce Inlet is surrounded by water on three sides,” said Michael Disher, director for the town’s planning and development department. “The people who live here are beginning to see the effects.”
