Abilene, Big Country contend with power outages after storm Power outages were reported throughout the city of Abilene and beyond in the aftermath of thunderstorms moving through the area Tuesday morning. According to the National Weather Service, Abilene received 1.58 inches of rain between 4:52 and 8:52 a.m. Outages in the Pecan Bayou area left about 2,000 customers without power, said Larry Jones, an AEP Texas spokesman, in an email received just before 10 a.m. Jones said crews had "sectionalized the Pecan Bayou outage to another circuit and restored all customers" there. Around 8:30 a.m., a circuit breaker serving the Rebecca Lane area in Abilene locked out, leaving 262 customers without power, he said.
