"He's really scared," she said. Ferguson knows her husband could die in prison from the virus. COVID-19 should not be a death sentence, she said. "If something happens and he dies from COVID, how sinister is that?" Ferguson said. "Why is it their fault, why do they have to die? That's sad." Ferguson was one of a few dozen people who protested Friday outside the prison in Madison Township. The protest was organized by state Rep. Jewell Jones, D-Inkster, and featured other state representatives, advocacy organizations and formerly incarcerated individuals who called for the immediate release of prisoners awaiting release and more humane treatment for all who are incarcerated.
