The window for public comment is nearing its end on permits that would be key to constructing two proposed seawater desalination plants. Both permits are for water rights: one for the Port of Corpus Christi Authority’s potential desalination site on La Quinta Channel, and the other for the city of Corpus Christi’s prospective site on the Inner Harbor. Exploring options for desalination is an important prong in evaluating how to meet the water needs of anticipated Coastal Bend growth, officials have said. In recent meetings, port and city representatives said they intend to meet for further discussion and work together.
