The Secaucus, New Jersey-based company said it had profit of $3.46 per share. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and restructuring costs, were $3.76 per share. The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.77 per share. The medical laboratory operator posted revenue of $2.72 billion in the period, surpassing Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.69 billion. Quest Diagnostics shares have increased 9% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has climbed 11%. The stock has risen 38% in the last 12 months.
