The jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man. Chauvin was convicted of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Nevertheless, many African Americans and other communities of color were unsure if the former officer would be convicted. Many predicted riots if Chauvin walked.
