After seeing store shelves stripped bare during the COVID-19 lockdown, many consumers have become more conscious of the fragility in the U.S. food supply. Interest in buying locally surged, which is why many customers will be reaching for beef with the label “Product of the USA” in the cooler this weekend. And many, understandably, will think that in doing so, they’re supporting U.S. farmers and buying beef from cattle that are born and raised in the USA.
