Mitt Romney (R.-Utah) issued a statement today condemning a group of Republican senators who on Saturday said they would not vote to accept the Electoral College votes from disputed states unless Congress appointed a special commission to audit the presidential election returns from those disputed states. “The egregious ploy to reject electors may enhance the political ambition of some, but dangerously threatens our Democratic Republic,” said Romney in his statement. “The congressional power to reject electors is reserved for the most extreme and unusual circumstances. These are far from it.”
