Del Mar — The San Diego County Fair is looking for performers to compete in a variety of contests, including its new San Diego’s Got Talent contest. The theme of this year’s fair is “Oz-some,” based on “The Wizard of Oz.” The fair is slated to run May 31 to July 4 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and is presented by Albertsons/Vons. Here’s a rundown of some of the contests. San Diego’s Got Talent contest The contest is open to youths ages 8 to 17 and is set up like the national TV show. The competition includes two divisions, one for ages 8 to 12 and the other for teens ages 13 to 17. The first place prize is $1,000. This new competition, which showcases all kinds of performing talent, replaces the In The Spotlight contest, which was for singers only.
