Savannah, a city that is well known for its lively bar scene and open embrace of alcohol, may now be seeing growth in another area — the craft distillery market. With the opening of New Realm Distillery, a three-story brick building that features a brewery, distillery, restaurant and tasting room, Savannah’s budding craft liquor and beer industry is hoping this may signal the beginnings of the city’s identity as a prime distillery locale. New Realm marks Savannah’s second brick-and-mortar distillery. Ghost Coast, the city’s first since prohibition, opened in January 2017. Savannah Bourbon, while it distributes heavily in Savannah and across the state of Georgia, operates out of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
