The victim underwent emergency surgery for his wound. Authorities did not release his condition, other than to say he was stable. The shooting suspect, who was only identified as a 64-year-old man, barricaded himself inside the home. Deputies made loudspeaker announcements for the man to surrender, but he refused to comply. Due to his unwillingness to cooperate, the Sheriff's Crisis Negotiations Teams (CNT) and Special Enforcement Detail (SED) assisted in the response. CNT successfully made contact with the man and were in communication with him for hours in an effort to get him to surrender. Authorities were in contact with the man into the following day.
