Corpus Christi Caller Times Selena Quintanilla-Perez will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards in January, officials said. The Recording Academy announced in a news release Tuesday it will honor and recognize several music artists for the 2021 Special Merit Awards on Jan. 31, 2021. Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Lionel Hampton, Marilyn Horne, Salt-N-Pepa, and Talking Heads will be honored alongside the Queen of Tejano for the Lifetime Achievement Award. The special merit award is presented by vote of the Recording Academy's National Trustees to performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording, according to the Grammys website.
