I think we do. clearing throat thank you, chair mandelman and members of the commission to invite me to talk about this highlighted by the traffic lives lost last week and our agency and our staff are deeply committed to the hard work to make sure all citizens in to are safe i know you all are well San Francisco has National Leader in advancing vision zero to do did additional work we still have to do and hard work to put safety at the three projects not just the streets but the other projects we do. There are many improvements we have made for safety San Francisco San Francisco and made San Francisco save for pedestrians and cyclists and fatalities have been trending down in San Francisco since 2013 traffic fatalities in the United States have shot up significantly over is last 5 years due to the rapid increase in average motorist behavior in all large cities in the country including in San Francisco and clearly we have not eliminate all traffic fatalities in San Francisco as we set out to do in year ago clearly we have enormous amount of work to do and were committed to doing that work in San Francisco but also in washington where prioritize the safety of people in at the expense of people outside of vehicles and committed to do that work in sacramento so legalize the safety tools in every developed country around the world. We will continue to use global best practices in evidence to guide our work our goal making sure our streets are safe for everyone and in deed they are comfortable and inviting and enjoy full. Thank you for your commitment to the vision zero and now id like to im going to turn it over to our staff starting with romero. Good morning, everyone. Okay. My name is romero the vision zero person and sfmta on behalf of the program manager. Ill give a brief overview for vision zero for the following month and followup with a brief update on the summary and give an update on the program. There we go laughter . First time. Um, so San Francisco um, is a city in the u. S. For the vision zero and back in 2014 will be the 10 Year Anniversary of adopting the vision zero policy. Our team is actually working on that 10 Year Communications where um, comparing vision zero pod cast we are working on the mayors and working on the 10 year perspective report to be released no april. And related to the 10 years vision zero our Team Starting in the spring will begin the process to vision zero community. Um, to define what the next phase of the streets in San Francisco and were going to included decisions and interviews and surveys we will collect the feedback and share that later on at a future meeting and in the meantime, we have exempts as listed on this slide. Um, we are going to install three three safe cameras and keep working on pedestrian bicyclist improvement on the remaining miles of the network and in parts of the city and concentration Downtown South of market and north of market and continue with the daylight to support sb 41 three and the safety treatment in the western edition and the tenderloin for 24 and 25 million we received through the safe streets and roads so 2023 our three three decrease in fatalities from 2022 as you can see on the map 2022 was a year that saw the most in the in the streets and but compared to last year in fatalities and was 55 percent decrease in the number of People Killed in Motor Vehicles and overall transportation mode pedestrians are are consistently the most frequent users and about 69 percent that Motor Vehicles like cars and trucks record the second highest by mode and representing did lower portion in the 5 years and not able zero bicycle fatal for the first time in San Francisco. Those coupled next slide are takeaways on the 2023 context and if you like to know more details please check the 2023 end of the year fatal report and transportation report will be released by the department in the coming weeks and so in 2023, way 24 percent less than 2023 the year that was adopt for 26 last year fatalities. And three three percent fewer traffic fatalities in 2022 and overall joseph mentioned traffic fatalities in San Francisco have been trending down and which is a different case than any other cities in the u. S. And for example, three of the citys four annual fatal to the occurred in the past 10 years with the Lowest Reported in 2017 and the other three in 2010 so to has so if we compare to others citys in the u. S. San francisco has the lowest number of bicyclist fatalities and for walking and commuters in the u. S. According to the league of american bicycle data if 2022 now a brief overview on this camera an update on behalf of the sfmta manager. And as requested were showing the three three cameras those locations were added through data driven was explained in detail at sfmta board of directors meeting of 2024 and will be presented to the board of supervisors in an upcoming meeting those three three proposed cameras will be enforcing speed and in 11 neighborhood district all data can be viewed on the Program Website sfmta. Org speed cameras and with that, transition to the next program. Good morning chair mandelman and other commissioners. My name is jan wong and im transportation and also the quick build project manager and the streets sfmta im here to provide the brief update about the progress of quick build projects and to give an overview of what we anticipate our work is for this particular Vision Zero Program in 2024. So quick builds are a key feature of the 2021 Action Strategy this is a program that was formalize in 2019 to bring some recognition for the body of work that is tends to be lower costs but still substantial just to be clear, those are the programs were doing that are not streetscape but we are trying to implement on the on the ground quickly and to move the model of iteration. I want to highlight a couple of projects here that have been recently submitted as was shared earlier in the um, in the updates. So just in time for the new season the third street quick build project um, was actually approved this month and this twoway bike way connection a new way to get to the ball park and press event to celebrate this i believe on, on friday as 11 00 a. M. At the park and we invite everyone to join us on that celebration. The second project i want to highlight is lake merced had a twoway bike way with pedestrian and bicycle improvements on the 2. 5 mile corridor between john deer drive and we have many more projects that are underway. Lincoln is in the project it is currently under construction and a few more are up for construction like germany relay and here have 7 more projects in the works and i want t
