For over a quarter of a century runners have descended on Block Island to participate in spring’s Shad Bloom 10K trail race, a bucolic run by lakes, paths, and roads coursing through some of the island’s most beautiful settings. “This year’s race featured 157 registered runners in age groups ascending to an inspiring 70 to 75 years- of-age,” said race coordinator and Recreation Department head David Sniffen. Runners participating were registered from as far away as New York City, McLean, VA, Washington DC, and San Diego, CA.
