Somerset resident Tammy Ruggeri stitches up items to help the grieving

SOMERSET — There is nothing that symbolizes the charitable nature of people more than when in times of personal struggle, they commit themselves to alleviating the pain of others.
Approximately 10 years ago, Somerset resident Tammy Ruggeri was dealing with the anxiety that immediately followed her father’s lung cancer diagnosis. She was encouraged to take on a hobby to help settle her mind, and on a trip to a fabric store in Lincoln, Rhode Island, she came across an advertisement for an affordable quilting class and signed up.
“It lit a fire in me,” Ruggeri reflected. “I loved the idea of creating something from material and color.”
