U.S. airlines are responding to an uptick in demand for leisure travel as business travel remains all but nonexistent. Southwest is the market share leader at Milwaukee Mitchell, carrying half the passengers at the airport. With Monday’s announcement, Southwest Airlines now serves seven Florida cities nonstop from Milwaukee. Dallas-based Southwest has expanded aggressively since the COVID-19 pandemic began, launching or announcing service at 17 new airports. From Milwaukee, Southwest has made the following air service additions to Florida, according to a statement from Milwaukee Mitchell: Existing Saturday service to Sarasota/Bradenton is being extended from now through the end of October. The round-trip route will also be flown on Sundays through Sept. 5.
