Drew Springer came out on top during the Special Runoff Election held Saturday, with a 13% lead over opponent Shelley Luther, according to unofficial early voting results from the Texas Secretary of State. The two candidates were looking to fill the Texas Senate District 30 seat which was vacated by Pat Fallen. This election is the fourth in Young County after COVID-19 restrictions were implemented and slowly loosened locally and statewide following the general election which was held Nov. 3 and had three weeks of early voting. Young County had 1,692 voters turn out for the runoff election, or a 14% turnout from the 11,847 registered voters in the county.
