Share Square will become one of the top 20 companies listed on the Australian sharemarket if its acquisition of Afterpay proceeds. The US payments giant, which itself has a market capitalisation of $168.5 billion ($US124.03 billion), will have an Afterpay-sized presence on the ASX as part of its all-shares takeover. Square Inc. will dual list on the ASX following the completion of its Afterpay acquisition. Bloomberg Square’s ASX-listed entity isn’t likely to deviate far from where the US shares trade. But that does not mean Square is suddenly going to take over the local sharemarket and dominate market movements as a megacap would.
