File photo: St. Lawrence University May 13, 2021 — St. Lawrence University and Clarkson University have joined the growing list of private colleges requiring students to have a COVID-19 vaccine for the upcoming fall semester. On Monday, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that all students at SUNY and CUNY schools will be required to have a vaccination in order to return to campus in the fall. During his press briefing on Monday Cuomo also urged private colleges and universities in New York State to do the same. St. Lawrence announced their vaccine requirement on Wednesday and Clarkson on Thursday. Some other schools have also announced their plan to have all in-person students vaccinated such as Union College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
