State, local officials partner to address hate crimes in New Hampshire
As hate crimes rise across the country, officials in New Hampshire say they believe the crimes are underreported in the Granite State.
Recent data from the FBI shows that in 2019, hate crime cases were the highest they have been in a decade, with about 20 hate crimes reported each day. Sign up for our Newsletters
New Hampshire's numbers are lower, but they're still happening. There were 16 hate crimes reported to the FBI in 2019: eight involved race, ethnicity or ancestry; five involved religion and three involved sexual orientation.
But those numbers could be higher. Law enforcement officials said hate crimes are vastly underreported.
