State's burgeoning foster care problem requires urgent atten

     The foster care crisis in Texas isn’t going away any time soon, and it isn’t going to be easy to fix, but it’s time for the state to put plans in place that will address a growing and heartbreaking issue.
     Additional funding is critical, but it’s only one piece of a complicated problem. The Department of Family and Protective Services and other advocates with boots on the ground sought increased payments for providers, but the Texas Legislature did not increase rates during its regular session, according to a recent report in the Texas Tribune.
