State's new one-day virus cases highest in almost two months

The state reported on Thursday the highest one-day total of new COVID-19 cases since Feb. 5.
That drove the seven-day rolling average case positivity rate to 3.5%, a high since Feb. 3, as more than 96,000 test results were reported over the previous 24 hours. Another 25 coronavirus-positive Illinoisans were reported to have died over the previous 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 21,326 since the pandemic began.
Hospitalizations also continued to trend upward, with 1,411 hospital beds in use by COVID-19 patients, including 304 intensive care unit beds and 121 ventilators.
