Kevin Stitt signed into law Monday three bills aimed at banning abortion in Oklahoma. Taken together, House Bills 1102, 1904 and 2441 mean as of Nov. 1, only doctors board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology can perform the procedure, only after checking for a fetal heartbeat, and only in cases where a woman may die or suffer permanent impairment. Board-certified OB/GYNs providing abortion care for any other reason would have their licenses suspended at least one year. If they don't check for a fetal heartbeat first, they would be guilty of murder under the new laws.
