Stories weave the threads of our lives Laura Elliott Special to The Courier When I talk to the elders of our community and hear about the times of their childhood, it seems somewhat amazing the degree to which things have changed. It’s really not that long ago. Makes me wonder about our current times and what things will be amazingly different in 70 to 80 years. I recently had a conversation with Chuck Feese, a resident of Lincoln, IL, who’s 85 and shared quite a few things of the past that are now of a different world. As the youngest of seven children, Chuck was the only one that was born in Illinois—the others in Kentucky. “My dad was a carpenter and farmer in Kentucky,” said Chuck. “He had built a house but didn’t have enough money to pay the taxes.”
