Modest relief from the heat arrives for the latter half of next week. Posted: Jul 10, 2021 6:42 PM Posted By: Cort Klopping The heat ramped up across northern California Saturday afternoon, with high tmeperatures topping out in the 109 to 114 degree range in most valley areas. Temperatures ended up in the upper 90's to triple digits in our foothill and mountain areas Saturday afternoon. The Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect through 9pm Monday for the valley, foothills, and northern Sierra. The Excessive Heat Warning is set to stay in effect in Trinity County throug midnight Sunday, and through 9pm Tuesday for the eastern slopes of the Sierra. We also have a Heat Advisory in effect for portions of Modoc and Siskiyou Counties through 8pm Tuesday. A Red Flag Warning for high fire danger will stay in effect through 10pm Saturday night in Modoc County due to gusty southwest winds and very dry conditions. We have had some very limited showers along the California and Nevada border this evening, but that will wrap up by around 8pm. Thunderstorms have developed to our southeast, but that's not likely to track into our region.
