NEW PHILADELPHIA City council members and officials with New Philadelphia City Schools held separate meetings this week to talk about a new lease for Woody Hayes Quaker Stadium, with discussions continuing to focus on public access to the facility. Meanwhile, the school district is looking at making repairs to the stadium this summer to address problems with crumbling brickwork and a boiler that needs replaced. Council's finance committee discussed the lease on Monday. Councilman Rob Maurer, who chairs the committee, said the issue should be expedited because of the needed repairs at the stadium. The two sides have been discussing a new 50-year lease since October. The stadium is owned by the school district but the land is owned by the city.
