A new oceanic museum two kilometres offshore in Busselton, Western Australia, will set new standards for what is possible in marine engineering.

It’s going to be a whale of a building, literally. When the new Australian Underwater Discovery Centre is unveiled in late 2022, sitting almost two kilometres from the shore at the end of Western Australia’s Busselton Jetty, it will rise out of the water like a breaching whale. As remarkable as its design, will be the building’s journey to Busselton from its construction site in Perth. It will travel south by sea, following the same route used by migrating whales.
