On Jan. 6, white supremacists brought their insurrection-induced mob to the U.S. Capitol building for a coup attempting to reverse the legitimate results of the 2020 election. In the aftermath, there are calls for the 14th Amendment Section 3 to expel members of Congress for their actions and words in support of what transpired. Namely, Sens. Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz. Before that happens, everyone needs to take a real look at Section 3, when and why it was ratified, and how it has been undermined.
