"Yesterday was like 100º outside," Zuleyca Serrano, who lives across the hall from the apartment, told local news station NBC2. "I think pets are like babies or like kids, so I can't imagine." The apartment was rented by a woman named Carleen Martinez, according to police, and found in "disarray" with the AC unit turned off. One of the dogs was reportedly wandering through the hallway near Martinez's apartment.
