Members of two warring gypsy gangs have been jailed for more than 30 years after they clashed in a terrifying machete brawl in the street. The Doherty and Brent Parker families traded blows in the street during a planned fight in the village of Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Warwickshire, while armed with pick-axe handles, machetes and other weapons. A court heard that the attack, which was the culmination of an escalating feud between the rival traveller families, left one victim with his throat slashed. A paramedic later said that if the wound had been a couple of millimetres either side or deeper, it would have been a fatal.
